Rhetorical Situation Scavenger Hunt

This is one of the infamous minion memes, an overly-abundant and popular type of meme commonly shared on the Internet. The audience is likely those who believe they are more intelligent than other people, because the message implies that the person sharing this message is fed up with the current state of society and its supposed lack of "smart people." The purpose of this meme is for the sharer to make others laugh and feel like they can relate to it. The context in this situation is that this is a meme, and people will share this it on social media sites like Facebook in order to get reactions from others.

Many people, including myself, instantly recognize this as the logo of Apple Inc. Apple's target audience is one that is younger, enjoys simplicity in function and design, and those who want to "go against the grain." This can be inferred from its multiple ad campaigns where the main theme involved separation from the mainstream, with one of the most notable ones being the "Think Different" ad campaign. The purpose of the company is to sell products that are not only functional but also visually appealing to consumers as well. The context of this is that they create computers, smartphones, tablets, and other electronics for consumers whose values and ideals that match what Apple is providing, causing them to purchase these items.

This is the packaging of a duraflame log, exactly like the one sitting in front of me in my living room. The audience is people involved in relationships, as the packaging shows a couple sitting in front of a flame with the slightly uncomfortable tagline, "Tonight's the Night." The purpose of this packaging is to encourage consumers with significant others to purchase this brand. The context is that burning this artificial firelog will not only help warm up your house, but it will also help bring you and your partner closer together.

This was because I initially didn't know what topics I wanted to do my genre translation project on, which made it hard to complete the cubing exercise successfully. I started clustering by first looking at the possible ideas I wanted to explore further. The first topic I came up with was bioluminescence in deep sea fish. Since I enjoy biology and science in general, I thought that this would be a good possible topic. I then found a scholarly article discussing the causes and effects of the bioluminescence, which I categorized as the biological components and the effects on the ocean's ecosystem. The second topic I thought of was the effects that music can have on the brain. Once again, I searched for a scholarly article and found one that discussed the various effects that music can have, along with the potentials of music therapy. The next step I took was thinking of the possible types of genres I could translate the ar...
